Going from one Mac game publisher to another, Softpedia is pleased to report that Dragon Age: Origins is coming to the Macintosh platform. BioWare and Electronic Arts will soon be releasing the Mac installment, while gamers can secure their own copy as soon as today. The title is ported to the Mac by TransGaming, via its Cider engine.

As with the Windows PC version, Dragon Age: Origins for Mac will come on December 21st in Standard and Digital Deluxe form, with the latter featuring Warden's Keep DLC, in-game items, the digital soundtrack, and the Blood Dragon armor. The Stone Prisoner DLC will be included free of charge in both versions.

"We are very excited to bring this award-winning title to the Mac community," Transgaming CEO Vikas Gupta said. "Our Cider technology allows us to rapidly enable and deploy high quality titles like Dragon Age, and we are pleased to be delivering this exceptional caliber of gaming to the ever growing Mac gaming community."

The key features of Dragon Age: Origins are listed by TransGaming as follows:

A Stunning World to Explore: BioWare's deepest universe to date with over 80 hours of gameplay and more than double the size and scope of Mass Effect.

Complex Moral Choices: There are no easy choices.

Full Character Customization: Sculpt your hero in your own image or fantasy.

Engage in Bone-Crushing, Visceral Combat: Battle against massive and terrifying creatures.

Fans can pre-order Dragon Age from GameTree Online for $49.95. The game requires quite the specs, including an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the latest version of Mac OS X (10.6.2 Snow Leopard), 2GB of memory, ATI X1600 or NVIDIA 7300 graphics (or higher), and at least 17 GB of hard drive space for installation. TransGaming says the title will not run on the Intel GMA (950 or X3100) class of integrated video cards, while PowerPC systems are out of the question.
