TransGaming, a renowned developer of software products that facilitate the deployment and distribution of games across multiple platforms, has announced the release of Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening for Mac OS X.

The expansion pack is available now for all Mac gamers through TransGaming’s digital download Mac games portal, GameTreeOnline, the company said. It costs $29.95.

Vikas Gupta, President and CEO of TransGaming, said:

"The Dragon Age franchise has been exceptionally well received by Mac gamers and we're excited about continuing the saga through the release of this expansion pack and all DLC add-on game content for the Mac community."

"Our strategic partnership with Bioware provides Mac gamers with some of the industry's most acclaimed RPG games and illustrates yet another example of how TransGaming’s technology and distribution channels are empowering EA to bring their best games to the broadest consumer audience," Gupta added.

Mac gamers can also enjoy DLC (downloadable content) add-on packages such as Return to Ostagar, Darkspawn Chronicles, Leliana’s Song, with many more on the way, TransGaming also announced.

“Players are encouraged to sign up for GameTreeOnline news updates or Twitter alerts, as more great DLC add- on content releases for the Mac will arrive over the coming months, aligned with the PC releases,” the company said.

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening for Mac requires OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard, an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB of memory, 3.5GB of available hard drive space, and ATI X1600 or NVIDIA 7300 or higher for graphics.

According to TransGaming, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening will not run on the Intel GMA (950 or X3100) class of integrated video cards.

Support for PowerPC Macs is, of course, out of the question. Most AAA titles released today heavily rely on fast processors, and overall beefed up systems.

Players will also need a good working keyboard and mouse.

The Awakening expansion is available as a digital download. The file size is 1.7GB.

As gamers should know, the expansion also requires Dragon Age: Origins Standard Edition (Mac) or Dragon Age: Origins Deluxe Edition (Mac).

Visit GameTreeOnline here for more details and / or to buy the game.

Too bad the cider wrap is buggy. I'm a long time gamer but never had as many problems with a game for Mac as this one. Repeated crashes, and crashes over and over at same place in game. Some you can work around, like, DON'T LOOK AT THE SPELL EFFECT HERE. But others happen in a dialogue where you have no control over the screen. Just the video of the mob talking and your ability to choose a response. Crash, crash, crash. Not only does it crash the game, it crashes the computer. It totally takes over the video. I have to wait 15 min after a forced shutdown before restarting my MacPro else I get no video at all. What the hell is that?

Sorry, this is a great game and when I can actually play it, I love it a lot. Too bad so little testing has been done for the Mac port.
