Go through the history of the series and make key choices to prepare for Inquisition

BioWare has just confirmed that it's going to release a very special application for fans of its Dragon Age franchise, in the form of Dragon Age Keep, which will let users make key decisions in the story of Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2, which can then be easily imported into the upcoming Inquisition installment.

The Dragon Age RPG series has delighted quite a few fans over the years but, as opposed to BioWare's other big franchise, Mass Effect, the flow of releases hasn't been that fluid, as several years have passed since Dragon Age 2 appeared.

Seeing as how Dragon Age: Inquisition, the third installment, is set to appear on a variety of old and new platforms, BioWare faced a big problem when trying to import the choices made by players in previous games into the new one.

As such, it's devised Dragon Age Keep, a special application that will allow fans to once again make choices in Origins and Dragon Age 2, which can then be easily imported into Dragon Age: Inquisition, no matter the platform on which it's being played.

"Within the Keep, you’ll be able to customize as much or as little about the world of Thedas as you wish," Executive Producer Mike Darrah told fans on the BioWare blog.

"Then you’ll be able to import your saved world state into DAI at the start of a new game. Have you lost or corrupted your save files? No problem — remake your world state on the Keep, and preserve it for the future."

"For those folks new to the Dragon Age franchise, the Keep will serve as a great way to understand the people, places, and events that shaped the world leading up to DAI."

BioWare is still investigating the possibility of importing actual save game files from the first two titles, but their complexity and the array of different choices that need to be examined makes it rather hard.

Those interested in Dragon Age Keep can register for a beta stage on this website. The testing starts in early 2014 and the public release should happen before the debut of Dragon Age: Inquisition in fall of 2014.
