The player needs to move fast to get more dialog options

The BioWare team working on Dragon Age: Inquisition says that it has drawn some inspiration from the video games created by Telltale Games in order to design the new dialog system that will be used in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Cameron Lee, a producer working on the title, tells CVG that his team has introduced more types of conversations that characters can have, each with its own set of rules and each with a set of effects on the participants and the game world.

The developer explains that, “One of the new things we're the bringing in is the ability for the player to get involved in conversations that are happening around them. You know how we have a lot of party banter? If that's taking place, there are multiple instances where you can get involved in that and start talking to them.”

When first walking into a town, the main character, depending on his reputation and on his past actions, can be called out by some of the characters.

The player needs to move fast and engage in conversation with them in order to get quests or to gain some influence.

Lee adds, “We're trying to bring in a more realistic conversation feel in that sort of a sense. But definitely for the more strong narrative story aspects, that's more of the traditional dialogue wheel.”

The developer has also teased the fact that BioWare is doing some interesting work on the romantic options for Dragon Age: Inquisition, but he has refused to confirm whether Varric will be an option for the protagonist, commenting that his love for Bianca, his crossbow, might be impossible to match.

The new role-playing game will mix exploration and combat, with a bigger focus on the options that the player has to interact with the world and on the consequences that his actions and words can have.

The core story will deal with a major tear in the Fade, which is allowing demons to pour through, and the efforts of a variety of organizations to close it down.

At the same time, Ferelden is rocked by the conflict between the Templars, the Mages and the Chantry, which started at the end of Dragon Age 2, and gamers will have to find a way to stop it and recruit all the factions for inquisitorial work.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be offered on the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the PC on October 7 of this year.
