The development team at BioWare is determined to get all the fans of the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition up to speed on the events that happened in the game world since the second title in the series, which means that yet another lore update is now offered, dealing with the major Civil War currently happening in Orlais.

The team continues to use the writing of fictional characters to deliver its information, with a fragment taken from Dernal Harrick, a dwarf merchant who is writing to his family in Ostwick about his current trading opportunities.

Apparently, Orlais is in the middle of a Civil War because Grand Duke Gaspard has chosen to attack Empress Celene as he tries to usurp the throne, initially dealing her a blow in the Halamshiral area, where her army was taken by surprise.

BioWare adds, “She escaped back to the Orlesian capital (with a hundred mad stories explaining how), at which point we started closing down the family shops, expecting Gaspard's army to carve a bloody path through the Heartlands and up north toward cities loyal to Celene.”

Gamers who are used to the bloody combat in Ferelden will need to adjust their expectations to the situation in Orlais, where the two sides have since settled into a comfortable stalemate, with nobles still trading and enjoying their own Great Game without aiming to solve the civil conflict.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will ask gamers to navigate the structure of the aristocracy in order to get support from the most powerful nobles for their own aims.

Dernal Harrick adds, “The nobles in Montfort and Val Chevin also bought up violets as though their touch killed darkspawn; apparently, Celene declared that wearing purple flowers was a way for humans to show their loyalty to her.”

In Dragon Age: Inquisition, the Orlesian Civil War is a background conflict that will influence the choices of the player, who will have to deal with the oversized personalities of both Grand Duke Gaspard and Empress Celene.

The new BioWare title will be focused on the attempt to close down a tear in the Veil that separates the real world from the Fade, which is allowing demons to pour in.

Gamers will also have plenty of side quests to explore and regions to discover and to then dominate.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be launched on October 7 on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PC.
