The coming Dragon Age: Inquisition will introduce mounts to the series and the team says that they will be used for more than simply travelling fast between points of interest inside the game world.

VG247 cites information from a Game Informer cover story in which developers explain that they want exploration to be a big part of the new game and that a variety of creatures can be ridden, based on player-made choices.

Mounts are required because the game world comprises areas ranging from eastern Ferelden to western Orlais, with a lot of cities and other locations that players will have to first explore and then return to as the story progresses.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be launched on current consoles, the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in 2014.
