The PS4 and Xbox One editions have bigger worlds, a more fleshed out story

Electronic Arts has gone into further detail about its upcoming Dragon Age: Inqusition RPG, saying that the decision to drop the Dragon Age 3 moniker was made to focus more on the actual story, which is expanded in the PS4 and Xbox one versions of the game.

BioWare has been working hard on the third Dragon Age game for some time now, with the studio wanting to blend the best fragments of the very successful Dragon Age: Origins with the not so popular Dragon Age 2.

The result is Dragon Age: Inquisition, without a number three in the name, as EA's Frank Gibeau wants gamers to focus on the actual story, not its place in the universe.

"I think there’s always this debate over numbers versus no numbers, what works, what doesn’t work," Gibeau told IGN.

"We felt like we wanted to bring more attention to the word Inquisition, because that’s more the story arc of what it’s like. There’s a whole bunch of gameplay and features and big story choices related to how you go through this Inquisition that happens in the world."

What's more, Gibeau also highlighted that, while the game will be great on the PC and current-gen consoles, the superior experience will be on the next-gen devices, namely the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

"We’re going to have PS3 and Xbox 360 and PC versions of Dragon Age: Inquisition, so there will be a very broad-based experience there, but the new platforms are giving us the opportunity to tell stories in much larger worlds with more features and more things."

"From our perspective, we didn’t want to launch a "current-gen" game in a next-gen market. We took the opportunity to add resources, add time, and we brought in new technology. Frankly, we’ve raised our expectations," he added.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is out in 2014 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
