The development team at BioWare might have delayed the launch of Dragon Age: Inquisition to November 18 in order to deliver more quality to fans, but the studio continues to answer fan questions about the main features, with combat now in the spotlight.

In an official interview, a number of developers explain that the team wants both dynamic elements and tactical situations that will require careful planning and execution, with a focus on team work and on careful use of abilities.

Once more, all members of the player party will have a clear set of behaviors that can be customized using a special interface, telling them when to use potions, who to attack, or when to move from a location.

Daniel Kading also says that there’s no decay for equipment in Dragon Age: Inquisition because, “Thedosian merchants give their products lifetime guarantees, which was a pretty shrewd business move what with the apocalyptic sky-hole.”

When it comes to abilities, players should think ahead because the most powerful moves will have long cooldowns and the only way to deploy them is to invest in other character powers that can reset the clock.

In order to balance the experience, the team has also eliminated all instant death moves from enemies, although gamers can still get defeated quickly if they go into areas where they should not travel until they develop their characters and get access to more powerful abilities.

BioWare is also ready to talk about an entirely new combat skill called Fallback Plan, which is used by Varric and can be learned by the player character.

BioWare explains that it “Lets you place a gadget on the ground; if you get into trouble later, you can instantly relocate to that position. If you upgrade it, you'll also be set back to the level of health you had upon placing the gadget, and- if you are standing close to an enemy - you'll kidnap the enemy back with you.”

The player can also mix his own abilities with those of his companions in order to deliver more damage, and a Focus resource, gained mostly via teamwork, also opens up a range of new ways to attack.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be out on November 18 and can be played on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and last-gen consoles, with a story that focuses on the Fade, the Elder One, and the efforts of a group of characters to stop the world from ending.
