Dragon Age: Inquisition is shaping up to be one of the most complex role-playing titles of the last few years and the development team at BioWare seems determined to make sure that each playthrough of the title is completely unique and allows gamers to create their own narrative based around characters and the items they carry into battle.

In a post on the official site, the team explains that crafting and customization are more open than they have ever been in the series and that players will have the ability to decide how much they want to engage with the new systems.

Chris Pickford, a producer working on Dragon Age: Inquisition, says that particular names can be applied to the unique items in order to allow creators to feel like they truly own them.

He adds, “We've had to expand the number of crafting materials to cover all the gameplay improvements we wanted to make. There are even some materials that allow characters to wear armor that isn't necessarily allowed for their class… but it's very rare.”

Apparently, there are materials which are designed to make the characters that wear a particular piece of crafted armor unique.

Pickford adds, “When you start getting into masterworking, you might find a top-tier common material with an unusual property. For example, iron is a very common material; however, if you find top-tier masterworking iron, it can give you a chance to become Unbowed on a hit. You'll have to find out what that means later.”

Mike Laidlaw, the leader of the team, says that major story moments in Dragon Age: Inquisition are designed to offer the player-led organization new ways to deal with crafting and customization.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is all about options

The new title from BioWare aims to offer a role-playing experience that gives gamers a lot of freedom when dealing with the core story and the side quests.

Members of the party can be abandoned entirely or used for the entirety of the series, the Inquisition can be upgraded in many ways, and the main character can gain powers based on his choices, which in turn will affect the rest of the game world.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be out on November 18 in North America and on November 21 in Europe and can be played on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and last-gen consoles.
