Dragon Age 2 was revealed by BioWare, as we announced earlier today. The official site has gone up and contains some information about the developer's latest epic. Furthermore, the game is already available for pre-order from various retailers like GameStop, which have already confirmed that Dragon Age 2 will arrive on the 1st of February 2011, as was teased in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening's package. The platforms targeted for release are, like in the case of Dragon Age: Origins, the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC.

The story of this new role playing game revolves around the player's character, as they build a powerful force and rise to power, after having escaped the destruction of his own home. They must gather deadly allies, while also becoming more famous and rich. The title allows the player to have an active role in the history of the Dragon Age universe, putting them right in the center of the most important events of the realm.

The narrative is supposed to take place across a decade and the game will emphasize player choice once again. BioWare is promising that the combat mechanics will be revamped, making them more dynamic. Moreover, as Greg Zeschuk promised, the visual style will be changed and the technology fueling Dragon Age 2's graphics will be updated, as this was the main grip players had with the first installment of the series.

As usual, BioWare is boasting a cinematic experience and the first trailer of Dragon Age 2 will be released on the 18th of July. More information will become available when the next issue of the Game Informer magazine comes out. It seems Electronic Arts will have quite a busy spring schedule with Dead Space 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic and now Dragon Age 2 coming out in the same release bracket.
