Attention multimedia fans (like there's anyone out there who isn't a multimedia fan): Dragoman 1.0 has just been released. This useful piece of software enables you to convert most of the popular music, image, and archive files. And it does so on the fly. Check it out!

Dare to be Creative, the folks behind other cool Mac apps such as iArchiver and iCombiner, have released Dragoman, an easy to use batch converter for image, music and archive files. If, for instance, you downloaded some music files but you can't listen to them on your mp3 player, you can just drag them into Dragoman's window and tell it to convert them into whatever that player of yours supports. It's the same with images and archives.

If, say, a friend has sent you a RAR file, but you need that converted to ZIP, or compressed to 7Zip. No problem, Dragoman can do it, Dare to be Creative assures. Dragoman also handles all the popular image formats too, including PDF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and GIF.

You simply drag your items in, pick a new format and drag them back out again. It's as simple as that! You just sit back and do whatever you like doing best while Dragoman converts all your files for you. Dragoman will convert most of the popular music, image, and archive files, the developer says, but if you're looking for confirmation, just grab this here 10-day trial version (14.4 MB) and see for yourself.

Dragoman also displays a progress bar that shows you the exact status of your file conversions. The software updates itself automatically, but not until it asks you for permission. Dare to be Creative assures Mac users that future versions will support video, HTML and source code file conversions as well.

Dragoman requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later. It is a Universal Binary, which means it runs just as smoothly on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
