I'm nor sure you remember the "Oscar de la Hoya in drag" controversy that took place nearly two months ago, at the end of September. In case you want to refresh your memory and have a look at the boxing legend turned fishnet lover and high heels aficionado, you can re-visit the whole drama
HERE,
HERE and
HERE. In short, it involved a series of photos in which de la Hoya was pictured wearing skimpy (and raunchy) underwear, posing alongside a lady who was later revealed to be a model (read that stripper) who claimed de la Hoya had been her fun-loving, outfit-swapping customer for a long time.
After releasing the photos to X17, the stripper (her name is Milana Dravnel) denied her previous statements on live TV, and everyone probably believed the scandal was going to die down in a relatively short while. However, things are not quite so - as Dravnel filed a suit against the Golden Boy and is asking for quite a lot of cash from him.
In the suit, filed today in Manhattan Supreme Court, Milana alleges that De La Hoya's people forced her into taking back her story and made false promises to her if she recanted. In other words, she was promised a bribe to keep her mouth shut and she never got it. She also claims she was de la Hoya's mistress from January 2006 to May 2007 (having previously denied having any kind of sexual contact with him), and that she was paid $70,000 by photo agency X17 for the pictures, a price her lawyer says was "below market." She's now suing for "fraud, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress".
I have a feeling there's more to this story than we initially imagined, as I suspect Milana would not have stepped forward unless she had something else too tucked under her belt - like more photos or something along those lines. It remains to be seen where this will lead, and whether we will be having any more breaking news to bring you soon. But I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of this controversy, and I'm sure the scandal that erupted and then disappeared so mysteriously from the map is back to stay.
