Celebrity culture is obsessed with looks; in fact, this obsession goes so far that it’s being said that one might as well kiss all dreams of a career in showbiz if they don’t have good looks on their side. As such, it’s only understandable why so many turn to the plastic surgeon for a little help in that department – and one of the best surgeons in Beverly Hills is Dr. Norman Leaf. He’s now coming out with a book precisely on this topic, called “Are Those Real? True Tales of Plastic Surgery from Beverly Hills.”

Dr. Leaf has worked with many celebrities in his 35-year career, therefore the story he has to tell is extremely well documented. Aside from that, it is also very entertaining, so even those who aren’t interested in celebrity gossip should find it a very fun read, as Dr. Leaf himself tells Softpedia with mock modesty. Moreover, early reviews of the memoirs are extremely positive, Dr. Leaf also says, which should be enough to get all those interested to order a copy on Amazon.com, where publisher iUniverse has made the book available.

“It’s not Dostoevsky, it’s not Melville, it’s not even Jackie Collins. It’s the release of my new book, a collection of stories, anecdotes and reflections of my 35 years of plastic surgery practice in Hollywood, or more specifically, Beverly Hills. Are Those Real? True Tales of Plastic Surgery from Beverly Hills is the story of my journey, a humble (kinda) Chicago boy who brings his midwestern, down-to-earth world view to the over-hyped world of celebrity-at-any-cost LA. The mismatch makes for some unique happenings. All my friends who have read it say it’s wonderful... but of course, they like me. Now it’s out there, and everyone has an opportunity to render their verdicts,” Dr. Leaf says of the book.

“Are Those Reals” comes with very strong recommendations. Actress Linda Dano calls it a genuine “bible” when it comes to deciding about which plastic surgeon to choose, while Bruce L. Gewertz, MD, Surgeon-in-Chief at the prestigious Cedars Sinai Medical Center, says Dr. Leaf captures the “soul” of the art of surgery with unparalleled humor and style. However, no praise can match the kind words coming from Joan Rivers, who says the only thing that could stop her from gushing about the book is knowing she has an appointment for Botox.

“If you’re looking for a plastic surgeon’s autobiography which will tell you how he did it, who he did it to, and ‘Oh my god, can that be true?’.... this is it! Norman Leaf’s well written, gossipy journey through his life as one of Hollywood’s most respected doctors is a true page turner. From the very first sentence I couldn’t put it down. This book is smart, funny, and... well, I could go on and on but I have stop raving about it because its time for my Botox,” Rivers says.

Dr. Leaf’s “Are Those Real?” is currently available for order on Amazon.com, but he tells us he hopes it will also come in electronic format, both on his official website and at retailers like iTunes. Stay tuned for more details on that.
