Dr. Conrad Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson just hours ago, and was taken in custody while he awaits sentencing. He's now on suicide watch, it has emerged.

At the end of the 6-week trial, Murray was deemed by the judge a “danger to society.” He was escorted out of the courtroom in handcuffs and taken into custody.

He is now on suicide watch, unnamed sources are telling the US media, as cited by the British tabloid the Daily Mail.

“Michael Jackson's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray has been placed on suicide watch at the Los Angeles County Jail, according to new reports,” the Mail writes.

“Hours after he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the June, 2009 death of the King of Pop, Murray was handcuffed and remanded without bail after a judge branded him a 'danger to society',” says the same media outlet.

“A law enforcement source has said he was placed on suicide watch once in custody. The 58-year-old cardiologist is awaiting a scheduled November 29 sentencing, which could see him serve up to four years behind bars,” adds the publication.

Murray might not ever see the inside of a state prison and will probably serve his sentence at the county jail, where he will be kept in isolation (that is, not with the general population) because of the notoriety of the case.

As we also informed you earlier today, he will be sentenced on November 29, but chances are the term will be extended as his attorneys prepare the appeal, word online has it.

Nevertheless, the Jackson family is thrilled that the person responsible for Michael's death was finally held accountable for his actions, even if this will not bring the singer back.

In a statement released shortly after the verdict was read, Katherine and Joe Jackson, Michael's parents, said they were happy they got to see Murray pay for his crime.

“Justice has finally been served. We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and we couldn't hold back tears of joy in the courtroom. Even though nothing can bring back our son, justice has finally been served!” Katherine and Joe said in their first statement since the trial concluded.

“We can’t wait to go home and share this day with Michael’s children,” the added.
