Last month, Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s personal physician who was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the singer’s 2009 death and was sentenced to 4 years in prison, walked out a free man after 2 years behind bars. In his first post-jail interview, Murray claims his innocence once more.

The Daily Mail spoke with the controversial ex-doctor and learned that he still maintained the late King of Pop injected himself with the Propofol that killed him. Had he not done it, he would have still been alive because Murray had almost managed to wean him off it.

Murray recalls how he and Michael met in 2006 and how the singer was so emotionally scarred that he didn’t dare to trust anyone anymore. He ended up trusting Murray, though, because he found in him a friend that wasn’t interested in money or fame, or think about the possible benefits he could get from being close to such a big star.

“We were family. We loved each other as brothers. Michael trusted no one. The bed chamber smelled because he did not even let maids in there to clean. There were clothes strewn everywhere,” Murray explains.

He says Michael told him that their “names will become inseparable” because he was “clairvoyant,” but Murray never imagined he’s be as vilified as he is today for something he didn’t even do.

“I never gave Michael anything that would kill him. I loved him. I still do. I always will,” the former doctor says. He says he only gave him a minuscule dose of the powerful anesthetic Propofol because Michael, in a fit of hysteria, had begged him for hours to help him sleep.

“He was in crisis at the end of his life, filled with panic and misery. I would sit with him when he was on a propofol drip. It’s a very fast-acting drug that disappears from the body quickly. Fifteen minutes after the drug is administered, it’s gone. I gave him very light, light sedation. I believe he woke up, got hold of his own stash of propofol and injected himself. He did it too quickly and went into cardiac arrest,” Murray says for the Mail.

In his mind, Michael is the only one responsible for his own death, because he refused to follow Murray’s indications. He swears he had tried to help his “drug addict” “friend,” and laments his own fate at having to live in hiding now for fear someone might want to murder him because he was found guilty of Michael’s death.

Murray also swears he and Jackson were like brothers, so close that he would personally insert a catheter each night because Michael was incontinent and would not let anyone else touch him in such a private place. He also says that the late singer regarded him as “a keeper of secrets,” but that definitely doesn’t apply anymore, since he’s airing all the dirty laundry in public now.

As for Michael’s death, Murray professes to be torn by regret, but not as far as his conduct goes.

“I did not kill Michael Jackson. He was a drug addict. Michael Jackson accidentally killed Michael Jackson,” he says. The Mail notes that, even if he’s the only one, Murray believes in his own innocence.
