A train passenger who was traveling from Liverpool to Stafford, West Midlands, in United Kingdom had £15,000 ($25,270 or €18,300) in cash stolen from him while he was nodding off during the journey.

According to British Transport Police (BTP), the thief noticed the man was carrying a bag with him and waited for the perfect moment to snatch it and run away. Apparently, the victim had the high amount on money on him because he was planning to buy a car in Stafford.

“The man had planned to travel to Stafford to purchase a car – and was carrying the cash in a bag. The victim dozed off and as the train arrived at Runcorn, a man grabbed the bag from the seat next to the victim and quickly left the train,” Detective Constable Dominic Wilcox said, according to Metro.

Police said the incident happened on March 1, at around 9 a.m., but they didn’t share further details.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they think has vital information about the case and have asked people who recognize him to contact them. They also ask for anyone with additional information about the theft to come forward.
