Nintendo has revealed that those who get the upcoming New Super Mario Bros. 2 game for the 3DS platform via its online eShop will receive extra coins that can be used on the Club Nintendo service.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is the first full-fledged 3DS game to be released both as a retail product and as a downloadable experience on the same day – August 17, in Europe, and August 19, in North America.

In order to get 3DS owners to opt for the downloadable version of the game, Nintendo has now confirmed that it will offer a bonus of 100 Club Nintendo coins for every customer, which can then be redeemed on the Club Nintendo online service.

Those who get the retail copy of the game will also receive Club Nintendo coins, but only 50 of them.

Before you download New Super Mario Bros. 2 from the 3DS eShop, owners of the handheld console must first register their 3DS account with Club Nintendo.
