You’d think an update to an iOS reading app is no hot topic, but you’d be wrong when it comes to GoodReader, the robust PDF reader with advanced reading and annotating capabilities.

Version 3.15.1 is out with a bunch of PDF improvements (to get started), including an eraser tool for freehand drawings (PDF Annotations), PDF links with custom URL schemes for launching other iOS apps, and the ability to email a PDF Annotations Summary from the annotation selector ("Locations") menu.

The second part of the update deals with remote server connections. Good.iWare has made tons of improvements in this department, adding a new option for Download-only Auto Sync which allows users to delete local files even if they were edited on a local device.

A new "Upload" button placed under the "Actions" menu now acts as a shortcut for uploading files and folders to remote servers, quickly, and more conveniently.

Users get a new "Share" button for creating public downloading links for Dropbox files and folders.

And the new “Default mode” switch for AFP servers should address any issues with uploading and downloading files for certain AFP servers.

Good.iWare Ltd. also squashed a bug in write-only folders on AFP servers. According to the developer, “this allows to send files to the write-only ‘Drop Box’ folder on a remote Mac computer.”

Listed under “other improvements,” HTML5 video can now be saved from Safari to GoodReader with a special bookmark. Users can generate this bookmark in the app’s Settings menu, according to the changelog.

Last, but not least, the update also aims to fix the issue with video files loosing their playback position on iOS 5.1.

The developer has been informing customers for a while now that GoodReaderUSB has been updated to support the "Downloads" folder. This release makes no exception.
