Developer Ian page has updated the iOS version of his flagship application, Mactracker, to add support for the new iPad’s Retina display, as well as documentation for the two new devices Apple launched on March 7th, 2012. Additional enhancements are also included.

Mactracker 2.0 is the first version to add support for the iPad, let alone the third-generation model. Boasting Retina-grade graphics, the Apple-history software now offers a dedicated interface for all iDevices.

As it was only natural, the application now features iPad (3rd generation) (Wi-Fi), iPad (3rd generation) (Wi-Fi + 4G), iPad (3rd generation) (Wi-Fi + 4G Verizon), and Apple TV (3rd generation).

2.0 further adds history information for most models from Apple-History, The Apple Museum, Andy F. Mesa, and Wikipedia, as well as memory upgrade instructions for recent models, these being iPad-only features. Another one is the info module on available Firmware Updates.

Other changes include:

- Info on graphics hardware for iPhone and iPad models - Updates Support Status for Apple's latest Vintage and Obsolete products - System requirements updated to iOS 5.0 or later - Other minor changes and additions

For those who haven’t yet heard of Mactracker, as developer Ian Page himself explains “[it] provides detailed information on every Apple Macintosh computer ever made, including items such as processor speed, memory, optical drives, graphic cards, supported Mac OS versions, and expansion options.”

“Also included is information on Apple mice, keyboards, displays, printers, iPod, iPad, Apple TV, iPhone, Newton, Wi-Fi Cards/Base Stations, iOS and Mac OS versions,” says Page.

Mactracker was originally available only for Mac OS X. Sensing huge demand from the iOS install base, Page subsequently released it for iPhone and iPad platforms as well. Mactracker 2.0 is now compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad models that support iOS 5.0 or later.
