Realtek HD audio drivers still not offering support for Windows 8

It's been almost three months since the previous release of HD audio drivers from the Realtek labs, and people seemed to grow rather impatient. Nevertheless, here's revision 2.68 for this sought-after software we're listing today.

The fresh 2.68 Realtek release brings WHQL-tagged support for the ATI HDMI devices, extending the range of applications which can use this driver.

Users still running Windows XP SP1 an SP2, 2000 SP4, or 2003 SP1 will surely appreciate the included Microsoft High Definition Audio UAA (Universal Audio Architecture) utility 1.0a (build 5013) required for compatibility with current multimedia standards.

Version 2.68 of the Realtek HD Audio Driver also brings support for a new audio chipset codenamed ALC282 for all current operating systems. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to see that revision 2.68 does not come with Windows 8 support, not even in a beta phase.

With no official declarations, all we can do is hope that the next release will take Windows 8 into account; or maybe we'll even see a dedicated beta! Until then, enjoy the latest release of the Realtek High Definition audio driver, revision 2.68:
