The May 2009 release of the Identity Developer Training Kit went live on the Microsoft Download Center concomitantly with the second Beta development milestone for codename Geneva. Essentially, with the Identity Developer Training Kit, the Redmond company is providing a variety of resources designed to streamline development of solutions and software tailored to Microsoft's next generation of federated identity technologies. In this context, the Identity Developer Training Kit covers not only the "Geneva" Framework Beta 2 and Microsoft "Geneva" Server Beta 2 but also the March Community Technology Preview of .NET Access Control Service and the Microsoft Federation Gateway.

“The Identity Developer Training Kit is a set of hands-on labs and resources designed to help developers to take advantage of Microsoft’s identity products and services. Being designed for developers, the kit focuses on the Geneva Framework: however it also gives guidance on how to take advantage of Geneva Server, Windows Live ID, the Microsoft Federation Gateway and the .NET Access Control Service (which is featured in a renewed and expanded lab),” revealed Hans VB, evangelism manager at Microsoft.

The software giant released codename Geneva at Microsoft Tech•Ed North America 2009, after the first Beta build of Geneva saw the light of day in November 2008. The May 2009 release of Geneva brings to the table the evolution of all the components under the company's federated identity technologies, including the Geneva Server and the Geneva Framework – IDFX and CardSpace.

“Most of the tasks are demonstrated both for ASP.NET web applications and for WCF services. We went to great lengths for eliminating as much as possible the friction that is traditionally associated with security samples, by providing configuration scripts and tools which automate many of the setup steps,” Hans added.
