Microsoft has just released the updated Visio Viewer, a free application that allows users to open drawings created in the new Visio app on any Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer.
The program doesn’t require Visio to be installed on your computer, and even if it is, you can still use it to preview drawings in both Outlook and the Windows Preview pane.
“We recommend that everyone with Windows 7 or Windows 8 download the latest viewer to get the best experience viewing drawings,” Microsoft says.
The new viewer comes with support for both the new VSDX file format and the older extensions, but also for new shape effects available in themes, variants and styles, as the Redmond-based technology company explained in a blog post.
