Better use a download manager, the file weighs in at almost 2.7 gigs

Just a couple of days ago, the Internet blew up in flames as three of Ubisoft's popular PC titles went free, as ad-supported downloadable games. One of those happens to be the company's popular first-person shooter, Far Cry, developed by Crytek. Now you can download the game straight HERE on Softpedia!

I'm guessing you're already on it but just in case you're still with us, it is highly recommended that you use a download manager, as the file itself is quite large - almost 2.7 gigs. Then, you'll be faced with having to live in the US in order to play the game. Don't worry - all you have to do is create a valid Ubisoft account where you have to mention that you live in the US.

Now here's what Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft, said when they announced the game's Gold status, on March 09, 2003: "We wanted to do something special for the supportive Far Cry community to commemorate reaching its gold milestone. More than one million people feverishly downloaded Far Cry's first single-player demo, and we expect to see the same excitement for the upcoming "Research" and "Boat" demos. We know the demos will only increase gamers desire to play the final game on March 23."

After escorting an inquisitive journalist to a remote tropical island, Jack Carver finds himself stranded in paradise, hunted by an unrelenting team of highly trained mercenaries. As Jack, you'll explore a vast island chain rendered in exquisite detail through state-of-the-art graphic technology. Outwit hordes of cunning mercenaries, make long-range assaults from more than a kilometer away, and use every vehicle, weapon and strategy at your disposal to outlast the island's evils and escape with your life, says the game's description.

As I'm sure you're already downloading the game, all I can say is have tons of fun with the game and don't whine too much about having to watch an ad before playing. The game is free for Christ's sake, even though it's a bargain bin now. HERE's the download link again.
