Desktop customization seems to be one of the main concerns in the Redmond campus these days, as Microsoft launches new Windows themes on a regular basis.

This time, the company has introduced what it calls the Desert Panoramic Theme for Windows 8, bringing high-quality wallpapers right on your desktop.

The theme comes with photos from the most famous deserts of the world, including Gobi Desert, Sahara Desert, Joshua Tree National Park (CA, USA), Mojave Desert or Monument Valley (AZ, USA).

The weird thing is that it only works on Windows 8 and Windows RT platforms, so Windows 7 users have no other option than to manually extract the wallpapers and configure them as desktop backgrounds. On the other hand, it supports both x64 and x86 versions of Windows 8.
