Apple publishes the best iPhone and iPad apps of the year

Apple has just released the App Store’s Best of 2012 lineup which includes the App & Game of the Year, Runners-Up, Casual titles, and more for your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

The App & Game of the Year awards go to Action Movie FX and Rayman Jungle Run respectively, while the Runners-Up are Airbnb (a travel companion app) and Super Hexagon (a puzzle game).

Speaking of fun, the Casual Games category lists Letterpress, Catapult King, Shark Dash, Bad Piggies, Supermagical and Super Monsters Ate My Condo as the top titles purchased by casual gamers worldwide.

Disruptive Services puts the aforementioned Airbnb on the first spot, followed by Apple’s own Cards application, PayPal, Thalys, iTranslate Voice, and Booking.com.

Featured under New Ways to Play are Lili, Slingshot Racing, Total War Battles, Hero Academy, and Puzzle Craft.

The most popular titles in Photography and Video are Action Movie FX, Gridditor, Video Star, Cinemagram, GroupShot, and Vintique.

The list continues with categories like Fun Runners, Intuitive Touch, Retro Games, Discover with Friends, Showpiece Games, Hidden Gems and, of course, the Top Paid / Free / Grossing titles of 2012.

In related news, Apple has recently launched the iTunes Store in Russia, Turkey, India, South Africa and 52 additional countries this month.

The iTunes App Store and the Mac App Store are now open to a total of 155 countries worldwide with more than 700,000 apps on offer.
