Google has released Hangouts for iPhone and iPad customers, a new application that puts one-on-one and group conversations on your iDevice, complete with photos, emoji, and video calls.

The free app is cross-platform, meaning it lets you connect with friends across Macs and Windows PCs, mobile phones, as well as tablets like the iPad.

“Hangouts works on computers, phones, and tablets, so you can connect with everyone,” says Google.

You get to see when people are engaged in a Hangout and message friends anytime, while video calls support up to 10 people at a time.

You can start a hangout on your phone and continue it on your tablet or PC. When you get an alert, the same notification won’t bug you again when you go to a different device. You can also snooze your notifications.

A history section lets you see what you talked about in the past, including shared photos and a video call log. History can be turned off, in case you want to ensure more privacy / security.

A collection of photos shared from each of your Hangouts is also available, and you can choose from over 850 emoji to have fun in messages.

Google is making it easy for users in all corners of the world to enjoy Hangouts, by adding multi-language support in the iOS app.

According to iTunes, supported languages include English, Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

Hangouts is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. The app requires iOS 6.1 or later.
