Flipboard, the popular app that creates a personalized magazine out of everything being shared with you, has finally made it on the iPhone. The developers said it was their no. 1 request so, naturally, they couldn’t say no to the iPhone port.

The app gathers everything from Instagram photos and Facebook updates to Tumblr posts and articles from your favorite blogs and web sites and lets you flip through all in one convenient place.

It already killed on the iPad, so now it’s getting ready to kill on the iPhone and iPod touch as well, with a brand new interface that’s been optimized for the two devices’ smaller screens.

In addition to this enhancement (or should I say downgrade?), the updated app also features cover Stories for iPhone. This is basically a selection of articles and photos being shared with you right now. The developers designed this function to get smarter every time you use it, and it’s on its way to the iPad soon.

You also get Flipboard Accounts - just sign into your Flipboard from either iPhone or iPad and get instant access to all your favorite content.

Finally, you can use All Timelines to flip through a single feed containing all the stuff that’s being shared across all your social connections. Pretty neat, huh?

Mike McCue, CEO of Flipboard, said, "The iPad is an amazing device that challenged us to rethink how people discover and share social updates and news. With the iPhone we redesigned Flipboard for those times during the day when you've only got a few minutes to check in, when people want to find the things they care about even faster."

"Flipboard for iPhone has been our number one request and now this release finally puts all the power of Flipboard in your pocket," the Flipboard CEO added.

Flipboard is free to download and use on your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) or iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
