Apple has sent out a memo to registered developers informing them that “iOS 7 will soon be in the hands of hundreds of millions of customers.”

The Cupertino giant has set the launch date for iOS 7 on September 18, but registered Apple developers can now log into the iOS Dev Center and download iOS 7 GM Seed, a near-final build of the software for testing purposes.

“Reimagine your app's interface with the clarity, translucency and depth of iOS 7,” Apple says. “Integrate APIs for AirDrop, multitasking, games, and camera, as well as new APIs that take advantage of the powerful new capabilities of iPhone 5s.”

Developers looking to get their apps ready for iOS 7 are encouraged to download the GM seed and test, optimize, and submit their apps for approval. To create and / or test iOS 7 apps, Apple requires that developers download and use Xcode 5 on a Mac.
