The first official iOS 7.1 beta is available alongside Xcode 5.1 Developer Preview. Registered Apple developers can immediately download these assets for free from Apple’s web site.

An email sent out to programmers registered with Apple states, “iOS 7.1 beta and Xcode 5.1 Developer Preview are available on the iOS Dev Center. Download these new releases today and test your existing apps for compatibility.”

People familiar with the software say this beta fixes network connection issues and includes new burst mode upload options.

“Previously, if the server-side closed an HTTP request with TCP FIN without sending any bytes of HTTP header or HTTP body, NSURLConnection would synthesize an empty HTTP/1.1 200 OK response,” the (leaked) seed note states.

“This is now fixed, and the request will result in an error instead of a successful load with a synthesized response,” Apple reportedly tells developers

A new Yahoo logo is available with this build, and there’s now a toggle for “dark keyboard” in the Accessibility pane.

Developers are also informed that crash logs will not appear in Diagnostics & Usage Data in Settings, but if they wish to view these logs, they will be able to obtain them “when synced off the device.”

A sleep issue is addressed, and developers are also told that “Loading an iTunes Match library may take much longer than expected, especially on larger libraries. If your library does not sync right away, please wait 30 minutes and try to access it again.”

Apple has been testing iOS 7.1 for a while now. The company is focusing not only on fixing bugs, but also on delivering new features. With incremental releases such as iOS 7.0.4, Apple only focuses on addressing minor issues or security bugs.

There is no word on when iOS 7.1 might be released to the public. Developers can download iOS 7.1 Build 11D5099e from Apple’s iOS Dev Center.
