Minutes ago Apple released iOS 6.0.2, an incremental software update for iOS 6 customers aimed at fixing wireless connectivity issues on iPhone 5 handsets and iPad mini tablets.Released for specific devices as a bug fix update, iOS 6.0.2 seemingly addresses a single issue with Wi-Fi connectivity on the iPhone 5 and the newly-launched iPad mini.
iPhone 5 users have been particularly plagued by Wi-Fi issues, while reports of iPad mini customers experiencing poor connectivity have been less abundant.
But there’s also the matter of how many iPhone 5 units are in the hands of end-users versus iPad mini units. The iPhone 5 was released to the masses in mid-September, whereas the iPad mini has been around for less than two months.
Nonetheless, iOS 6.0.2 promises to fix “a bug that could impact Wi-Fi,” according to the changelog supplied by Apple with the software update.
iOS 6.0.2 is available over-the-air (OTA) via a wireless connection, or through iTunes, via a tethered connection. Alternately, users can download the standalone IPSW update file here.
