Apple has released iCloud Control Panel 2.1.2 for Windows, an update to the utility that makes it easy to keep your contacts, calendars, and bookmarks up to date between all your devices and computers.

“iCloud Control Panel 2.1 and later includes support for Windows 8,” according to the release notes. Which gives you a clue as to what today’s update does.

Apple doesn’t elaborate further on the purpose of the update, but iCloud Control Panel 2.1.2 is most likely a maintenance release with bug fixes.

iCloud Control Panel includes Photo Stream, so you can keep your photos in sync across devices, as well as Shared Photo Streams, for selective sharing, complete with notifications and comments.

Users looking to create an iCloud account need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later.
