The popular social networking service, foursquare, now features Explore on iPhone and iPad. Version 4.2.1 of the iOS app adds tons of new information for a slew of businesses.

The foursquare app is used to keep up with friends’ activities and discover nearby stuff that you’re interested in. The app also lets you save money at places you love to visit, and you get personalized recommendations based on what you and your friends like.

According to its developers, “foursquare [4.2.1] makes it easier than ever to discover great places nearby. Tap on the 'Explore' tab to find personalized recommendations for whatever you're craving,” reads the changelog.

“You can filter by places you haven't tried, or places your friends like to go. Plus, the new update includes menus and pricing information for hundreds of thousands of businesses.”

Last, but not least, the updated app fixes a few bugs that should improve the experience even more. The main features of foursquare for iPhone and iPad are:

✓ See what your friends are up to and share your experiences. ✓ Get personalized recommendations for where to go and what to get, based on what you and your friends like. ✓ Save money with discounts and freebies from businesses. ✓ Discover insider tips and suggestions from local experts, brands and celebrities. ✓ Follow curated lists of the best spots to go, or create your own lists to share with others.

Foursquare 4.2.1 is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
