The first beta for foobar2000 1.1.16 is now available for download. It is just a maintenance release that features bug fixes and compatibility improvements.

The set of modifications introduces a workaround for the playback/output preferences crash that occurred on Windows 2003, as well as improvements for ID3v2 tagging compatibility.

As such, non-compliant ID3v2.3 “Year” frame (TYER) is allowed by default and there is the option to write rating as “TXXX”, although few people need it.

Other changes include repairing the properties dialog field copy/paste inconsistency when specific fields are copied from single to multiple files and cleaning up the embedded cue sheet handling code.

Moreover, the ReplayGain scanner also went through repairs and includes additional warnings when trying to scan a very large group of tracks as a single album.

On the same note, the problem with increased memory usage when performing the aforementioned activity has been addressed.
