ALWIL Software has released avast! Free Antivirus 7.0 Build 38501 for Mac users, an update to the company’s free solution for combating malware on OS X computers.

Apple this week rolled out Security Update 2013-001, a standalone patch for OS X customers which includes fixes for the latest vulnerabilities discovered in the company’s desktop operating system.

Security Update 2013-001 includes around two dozen fixes for various types of security holes. The entire set of patches was also made available in OS X 10.8.3, a new incremental for Apple’s Mountain Lion OS.

To mirror the security fixes included by Apple in these two releases, ALWIL Software this week rolled out Avast! Free Antivirus 7.0 Build 38501, an update to the company’s free antivirus client for Mac users which “fixes compatibility with Mac OS X “Security Update 2013-001.’”

Mac users reaping the benefits of ALWIL Software's free malware protection app can download the latest release at the link below.
