Today, January 5th, the KDE development team unleashed the second and last Release Candidate version of the upcoming and highly anticipated KDE Software Compilation 4.8 environment.
KDE SC 4.8 RC2 brings numerous bugfixes and stability improvements, in preparation of the final and stable version, due for release later this month on January 25th.
The final KDE Software Compilation 4.8 release will have Qt Quick in Plasma Workspaces, an updated device notifier widget written in QML, a QML-based KWin window switcher, improved file view of Dolphin including a more attractive visual appearance, as well as lots of general performance improvements and assorted bugfixes.
KDE Software Compilation 4.8 will also be available for all Ubuntu/Kubuntu 11.10 users!
