Make the transition to Outlook.com easier with this tiny tool

As you’ve probably heard by now, Microsoft has completely retired Hotmail and moved all users to the new Outlook.com, giving them absolutely no option to stick to the old and utterly-popular service.

If you’re looking into ways to make the transition easier, you can download the so-called Howard, a free application that lets you know when new emails land in your Outlook.com inbox.

The application packs only the essential configuration settings and a very simple interface, running in the background all the time and automatically checking for new messages at a user-defined interval. A notification is displayed when new messages are available.

Howard works on basically every single version of Windows still supported by Microsoft, including Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8, be they 32- or 64- bit.
