Apple has begun notifying developers that Xcode is available as a standalone app in the Mac App Store starting with version 4.3.

The new release replaces the previous Install Xcode package and adds support for delta updates, Apple said in a memo posted to the News and Announcements section of the company’s Developer site.

There’s also a new "Downloads" pref pane that allows devs to install add-ons. Apple offers examples such as command line tools and previous iOS Simulators. “Xcode 4.3 in the Mac App Store includes the OS X 10.7.3 SDK and iOS 5 SDK,” the Mac maker reveals.

For people coding iOS 5.1 apps, Xcode 4.3 Developer Preview can still be used with iOS 5.1 SDK beta. The package is available in the iOS Dev Center, Apple says.
