A new version of WordPress for Android is now available for download, namely version 1.5, aimed at making it much easier for users to stay up to date with their favorite blogs and sites while on the go.

With the new application release, users will find it much easier than before to follow blogs that interest them, or to browse post from a single place.

At the same time, the new application flavor brings along HTML5 video tag for the uploaded videos, along with a series of reliability improvements, and more.

“If you’ve connected one of your WordPress.com blogs with the app, you’ll now see a ‘Read’ button at the bottom of your blogs list,” the development team notes in a recent blog post.

“Clicking it will display all the latest posts published on the blogs that you follow, along with the option to like or reblog them. You can even follow blogs and sites that aren’t on WordPress.com, as long as they have an RSS feed.”

When viewing any WordPress.com blog, users will see a follow button in the top admin bar, which will offer them the possibility to add the respective blog to the reader.

Moreover, users installing the new software version will be able to add sites that are not on WordPress.com by entering the URL of the site at the top of the following list and then hitting the “follow” button.

“We’ve tweaked a few things here and there in the app, including using the HTML5 video tag for video uploads instead of the outdated QuickTime tag. There are also a handful of bug fixes in Version 1.5 that improve the app’s reliability,” the team continues.

They also unveiled the fact that the work on the next flavor of WordPress for Android has already started, namely version 2.0, and that it should arrive on devices with a wide range of new features.

The company will continue to offer updates on the upcoming WordPress for Android version 2.0 on their Developer Blog. Those who will install the new WordPress for Android 1.5 are encouraged to offer feedback on their experience.
