Following the availability of Windows 7 RTM for MSDN and TechNet subscribers, Microsoft has released the RTM version or Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, which comes with a wide range of new tools, along with various samples, some of which are new to Windows 7. In addition, the company also announced the availability of a new Windows 7 Training Kit for Developers, which is meant to provide users with several hands-on labs, presentations, as well as demos.

The RTM release of the Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 comes both in an ISO format and in a Web Setup format. Those who will chose to go for the ISO format will download the entire SDK, while the Web setup will enable them to install only a specific subset of the SDK. The download page at Microsoft shows that three different versions of the ISO SDK, namely x86, x64, and Itanium, depending on the CPU flavor used, are available for download, and each and every one of them will allow for the creation of applications that will work on other CPU versions as well.

“The Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 provides the documentation, samples, header files, libraries, and tools (including C++ compilers) that you need to develop applications to run on Windows 7 and the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. To build and run .NET Framework applications, you must have the corresponding version of the .NET Framework installed. This SDK is compatible with Visual Studio 2008, including Visual Studio Express Editions, which are available free of charge,” the Redmond company describes the Software Development Kit.

In addition to the Windows SDK, Microsoft also released a new Windows 7 Training Kit for Developers, which has been recently updated to fit the newly available Windows 7 RTM bits. The solution comes with a new look, and developers will find there topics like Taskbar, Sensor and Location, Libraries and Shell, DirectX, Multi-touch, Ribbon, and many more. The Windows 7 Training Kit for Developers works on Windows 7 and will also need the Windows 7 SDK, Visual Studio 2008, and the Windows Code Pack API for .NET Framework.
