Yet another multimedia player with support for the Metro

We’re all waiting for the official release of VLC for Windows 8 but, in the meantime, the Windows Store provides several pretty interesting alternatives.

Windows Media Player 8 is not an application created by Microsoft, but a very good video player which offers support for most video formats out there. Unfortunately, no MKV support is available at this point, but the developer promises to include it in a future release.

With a clean and appealing design, the app is completely optimized for the touch, so it works not only on desktop computers, but also on tablets.

Sadly, the app is not available for free, but with a $4.99 (€3.90) license that allows you to use it on any Windows 8 version.
