Microsoft is evolving Windows Live OneCare with multi PC management, Printer Sharing, OneCare Online Photo Backup, and support for x64 Windows Vista and Windows XP. The Redmond company's antivirus is moving from version 1.5 to version 2.0. Sign-ups for the Windows Live OneCare Beta (v2.0) program are already live, and you too can join via Microsoft Connect. However, the Windows Live OneCare Beta Team also delivered confirmation of the fact that the first beta for Windows Live OneCare 2.0 will soon be available to testers. In this context, Microsoft has sent out private invitations to Windows Live OneCare 2.0 beta, in what it refers to as a pre-premiere stage.

"The public premiere of Windows Live OneCare Beta (v2.0) is just around the corner, but you've been specially selected for an invitation to try the Windows Live OneCare Beta (v2.0) before it is available to the public," the Windows Live OneCare Beta Team revealed via emails sent to a select group of testers. Although the email is associated to a request of non-disclosure from the Windows Live OneCare Beta Team, one member of the testing pool published the pre-premiere information on TechTitans.

"We think you're going to like all the great things about Windows Live OneCare, and as a beta program participant you'll have the chance to try out all the new features first. We will send you relevant updates and information regarding your Windows Live OneCare beta participation and will not share your e-mail address with any third parties. The first notice you receive from us will include the option to discontinue further notices regarding Windows Live OneCare," reads Microsoft's invitation to the Windows Live OneCare Beta v2.0 program.

Initially, Microsoft will install Windows Live OneCare 1.6 (click on the link to access OneCare 1.6 and 2.0) on your machine, but the product will be automatically updated to version 2.0 in a few days. "Windows Live OneCare Beta (v2.0) is serviced with the same AntiMalware engine and signature set as our paying customers get - the difference is the new functionality such as multi-PC management, printer sharing, and online backup," reads a fragment of the email.
