In less than two months, Microsoft will make available for download the first public development milestone of the next major iteration of Windows Live Messenger. Although the Redmond company has yet to announce the official availability deadline, fact is that it managed to leak the release date. According to Microsoft pour les Etudiants, a Microsoft France website, Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 Beta will be offered to early adopters for testing on June 21st, 2010. The original announcement was posted by Mélanie M'Chich on April 29th 2010.

At this point in time, users can still access the original message, as Microsoft France has yet to take it down (via Wikikou and LiveSide). I have contacted the Redmond company and asked for the June 21st deadline for the release of Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 Beta to be confirmed or denied. I’ll make sure to provide an update as soon as I get a reply from the software giant, which will most probably be later today.

“Windows Live Messenger will be available in Beta starting with June 21. It brings many novelties and, among other things, you will have the possibility to experience the emotion of live HD thanks to HD conversations in 16/9 full screen, sharing photos and videos on YouTube in classic conversation or video, and having your conversation windows organized in tabs. For the full scoop, head over to Facebook’s Messenger page,” the translated text of the message posted on Microsoft pour les Etudiants reads.

As the Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 Beta Preview website went live, Piero Sierra and Jeff Kunins, group program managers for Windows Live Messenger and Social, confirmed what Chris Jones, corporate vice president of Windows Live, had stated earlier. Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 is currently in private Beta. The next stage in the testing program for the instant messaging client is to broaden the Beta program. And only then will the Beta of Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 be offered to the public.

Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer will participate at the D8 – All Things Digital conference, scheduled to take place between June 1-3, 2010. Speculation indicates that Ballmer will have some new announcements on Windows Live Wave 4, with some keeping their fingers crossed for a Beta release.

It's June 21, and I don't see a single Beta download for Windows Live Messenger 2010/ Windows Live Wave 4. Sad.
