Download Windows Azure Platform Training Kit - August 2011 Update

Microsoft has released an updated version of a collection of resources designed to provide free training for the company’s Cloud platform.

The Windows Azure Platform Training Kit - August 2011 Update is now available from the Microsoft Download Center, introducing refreshed content.

In all fairness, the August Update for the Windows Azure Platform Training Kit went live on the Download Center a few days ago, but Microsoft only recently provided the refreshed download link as well as information about the changes.

Microsoft Technical Evangelist Wade Wegner highlighted the most important aspects of the August 2011 update of the WAPTK, including “the following updates:

• Labs and Demos

◦ All the labs and demos have been updated to leverage the new Window Azure Tools 1.4.

◦ Updated SSMS dependency of affected labs to SSMS SP1.

• Windows Azure Deployment

◦ Applied fix in the setup experience for the Windows Azure Platform Management Cmdlets.

◦ Updated the Windows Azure Platform Management Cmdlets to the latest version.


• Building ASP.NET Applications with Windows Azure - Changed the way the membership password was encrypted to fix minor bug when deployed to azure.

• Exploring Windows Azure Storage - Updated the code to support deleting snapshots.

• Windows Azure CDN - Applied fix to a minor bug in the Overview section.”

The WAPTK is a great collection of resources for customers embracing Windows Azure, and its value only increases because it’s offered free of charge.

Along with the Windows Azure Platform Training Kit – August 2011 download, the software giant also updated the Windows Azure Platform Training Course on MSDN.
