The August 2007 Security Releases ISO image is now available for download from Microsoft. Following in the footsteps of this month's release of security bulletins, the ISO image includes all the Windows patches made available via Windows Update on August 14. The August 2007 Security Releases ISO image contains no less than eight out of the total of nine security bulletins released for a variety of Microsoft products as a part of the company's monthly patch cycle.

Through a 2803.1 MB download, Microsoft is permitting end users access to five security bulletins labeled with a maximum severity rating of Critical, two Important patches and one Moderate update. The critical bulletins address vulnerabilities in the Vector Markup Language, the Graphics Rendering Engine, Internet Explorer, in Object Linking and Embedding and in the Microsoft XML Core Services. It is important to note that a total of three Critical security bulletins resolve vulnerabilities in Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows Vista.

No less than 12 security vulnerabilities are patched by the August 2007 Security Releases ISO image on all supported Windows operating systems including Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista, both the 32-bit and the 64-bit editions. The only consolation is the fact that all the security flaws were reported privately to Microsoft and have not been exploited in the wild.

"This DVD5 ISO image file contains the security updates for Windows released on Windows Update on August 14th, 2007. The image does not contain security updates for other Microsoft products. This DVD5 ISO image is intended for administrators that need to download multiple individual language versions of each security update and that do not use an automated solution such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). You can use this ISO image to download multiple updates in all languages at the same time," Microsoft informed.

The August 2007 Security Releases ISO Image was tested by Softpedia as being 100% Free and is available for download here.
