Windows 8 is nearing its availability in a final flavor, and Microsoft is ensuring that developers have at hand all the necessary resources to get started with the building of applications for it.

The latest of these is the Windows 8 Camp in a Box, Consumer Preview Edition pack, which includes a series of hands-on-labs, presentations, samples and resources from the Windows 8 camps.

With these, app developers should find it easier to start building their software in accordance with the new development principles that Windows 8 comes with.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the upcoming Windows 8 platform brings along a brand new interface, the Metro UI, which requires the applications built for it to use the new WinRT environment.

This could make it a bit difficult for developers to port their applications designed for the previous flavors of Windows to the new operating system, and this is when Microsoft steps in.

The Redmond-based giant has provided app builders with a wide set of tools to help them start delivering applications for the Windows 8 platform, while also putting at their disposal various guides for that.

The new hands-on-labs, presentations, samples and resources from the Windows 8 camps that have been included in the new download fall in this category.

Windows 8 camps are provided as free training events for developers who intend to release Metro style applications. All devs can sign up for these camps via Microsoft’s website.

The new download offers support for the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and requires the Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Beta (any SKU, including Express) to be installed.

The new package includes two downloads, Windows 8CampinaBoxJS, which comes with hands-on-labs for those using HTML + Javascript, and Windows8CampinaBoxCS, which includes hands-on-labs meant for those developers who favor XAML + C#.
