Windows 7 Professional Pack for Small Business Server 2011 is finally live on the Microsoft Download Center, and available free of charge to customers running SBS 2011.

Softpedia users were able to read about the  Windows Small Business Server 2011 add-in earlier this week, but at the time of the first article covering the extension, downloads had yet to go live.

But Microsoft managed to live up to its promise and Windows 7 Professional Pack for Windows Small Business Server 2011 downloads are now up for grabs.

As mentioned already, the Pack is nothing more than an extension for Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials designed to increase the server platform’s compatibility with Windows 7 Professional.

According to the software giant, the add-in is offered as a way to simplify Windows 7 client machine management operations.

“The Windows 7 Professional Pack for Windows Small Business Server 2011 simplifies the activation and configuration of security settings, real-time backup of user data, and offline access to user files stored on the server,” the Redmond company said.

“Security settings and real-time backup of user data are achieved using the following Windows features:

• For security settings: Windows Update, Network Firewall, Windows Defender.

• For real-time backup of user data: Folder Redirection and Offline Files.”

In addition to the actual Windows 7 Professional Pack for Windows Small Business Server 2011 add-in, customers can also download guidance on how to make the best out of the extension.

Microsoft is offering Release Notes as well as a Guide set up to provide help with the Windows 7 Professional Pack for Windows Small Business Server 2011.

“Windows SBS 2011 Essentials and Windows 7 Professional together provide small businesses with improved networking capabilities. Working together, these products help you get more done, safeguard your work, and gain control of your PCs while remaining easy to set up and manage, especially with limited IT skills and resources. In order to provide the stated benefits, the Windows 7 Professional Pack uses the aforementioned features,” the company added.
