The Mac installment of WinZip has reached version 3.0 and is now available on the Mac App Store with powerful new cloud-sharing features and some other additions that probably still don’t justify the $29.99 / €26.99 price tag.

WinZip Computing has deployed one of its biggest updates for Mac users yet, adding direct support for cloud sharing on Dropbox and Google Drive, the ability to zip and upload files to the cloud (and open zip files saved in the cloud), and options to maximize cloud storage by compressing files.

Users can organize and rename files and folders in their clouds and use Cloud Links to upload a file and quickly send that link via email. There are new keyboard shortcuts available to save and open cloud files and the workflow has been enhanced through various UI tweaks for more productivity. Finally, WinZip 3.0 is now fully compatible with OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

“Zip, unzip, email and share to Dropbox and Google Drive directly with WinZIP on your Mac,” says the developer. “...designed specifically for OS X versions 10.7 and later, WinZip for Mac is packed with tools to maximize your productivity and minimize file sizes. Share more, store more and do more with WinZip Mac Edition.”

The app requires only OS X 10.7 (Lion) to run, as well as a 64-bit processor and roughly 13.5 MB of free disk space. The interface is offered only in English.
