Update includes an “attempt” to fix a crashing bug

WhatsApp is prone to crashing on startup under iOS, according to the people behind the popular instant messaging app.

Available as a free download (for iOS) as of last week, WhatsApp is the world’s most popular social networking / IM app for iOS and Android. It’s cross platform, meaning you can even text your BlackBerry friends, and it costs one buck a year (€0.89) to use indefinitely.

After getting a brand new update (with custom URL scheme support, multiple-photo sharing, and iCloud backups), users began experiencing issues. Particularly, the app would crash in certain conditions.

A new version is available today. WhatsApp 2.10.2 only “attempts” to fix the crashing bug, so there aren’t any promises on behalf of the team at WhatsApp Inc.

Go ahead and try it out, see if it mends the app and sound off in our own comments section if you think it helps.
