WhatsApp Inc. has released an updated version of its instant messaging client for iPhone users adding support for iOS 7, broadcast lists, new notification and sounds, and more.

The new WhatsApp 2.11.5 has a brand new user interface featuring Apple’s iOS 7-style keyboard and various other aesthetic tweaks that make its appearance cleaner and simpler.

Users can now use broadcast lists, which enable them to communicate with friends and work colleagues by sending mass messages. Location sharing gets 3D map view and the ability to hide and search places.

Thumbnails are now larger, and there’s a bunch of new notification alerts and sounds to check out as well. The app will now use the default text size (configured in your iOS Settings), and blocking contacts is more intuitive now. Users can also crop images before sending them.

As a reminder, WhatsApp Inc. tells customers, “you can backup your WhatsApp conversations into iCloud. Simply visit WhatsApp Settings > Chat Settings > Chat Backup and tap on ‘Back Up Now’.”

“Once you and your friends download the application, you can use it to chat as much as you want. Send a million messages a day to your friends for free,” says WhatsApp Inc.

“Just like there is no added cost to send an international email, there is no cost to send WhatsApp messages internationally,” the company adds.

“Chat with your friends all over the world as long as they have WhatsApp Messenger installed and avoid those pesky international SMS costs.”

When you sign up to use the service, your Address Book will be used to automatically connect you with your contacts, so remember that the moment you’re logged in, everyone will be able to see your presence on the WhatsApp network.

Contacts who already have WhatsApp Messenger will be displayed automatically under Favorites, along with their WhatsApp status message. Download WhatsApp 2.11.5 and check out its new features today.
