One of the best instant messaging applications for mobile phones, WhatsApp Messenger has just received a small update on the Android platform.

However, the update has yet to be pushed on Google Play, so the only way to get the latest version of the application is via the developer’s site.

The good news is that this small update does not include only bug fixes and small improvements like the beta versions usually do. Instead, WhatsApp has added support for multi-window.

Aside from the new feature, the latest update is said to bring some performance improvement of background tasks as well.

As we have already mentioned, WhatsApp Messenger 2.9.4991 is not yet available on Google Play store, but Android users can download it via Softpedia. Keep in mind that the application is compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up.
